Rainy Day Writing Prompt Wednesday

I had a whole other prompt set for today, but then I walked out into the rain and "whoosh" changed my mind. It's a girl thing.

So. . . today's writing prompt is: She stepped out into the rain. . .

Finish that sentence, write a paragraph, or a page. Have fun and let the words flow.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

She stepped out into the rain and immediately ran back into the entry. She glared accusingly at the bin of umbrellas perched next to the grand entry. Snatching her favorite parasol she marched with purpose back into the rain.

She stepped out into the rain.

He stood in the glow of the streetlamp.

"It doesn't have to go down like this!" she shouted.

"Of course it does! This is how it works"

She slowly moved her hand towards the blaster hanging from her shoulder.

"Don't do it, Trage! I'm a quicker draw."

"You couldn't beat me on your best day, old man! And that day is long past!"

She looked for any way to escape the situation. one presented themselves. She was stuck. Surrender to the cop or trade blasts with him. He was the best there was with a blaster

"Maybe," she thought, "I can beat him to the draw."

She reached for the blaster, drawing it to take aim. He was a split second quicker and he fired before she could get her blaster leveled. She dove to the rain slick street, firing the blaster as she hit the ground.

She looked up at him as he fell to his knees, gloved hand holding his chest. Her eyes went wide. She dropped the blaster and scrambled to his side.

"Oh shit!" she blurted out.

"I...told you....stop cussing, kid" He feebly rebuked her.

"I....I didn't mean....I didn't WANT to shoot you. I just wanted to get away." Tears mixed with the rain streaming down her face.
