‘First kiss’ the theme at romance authors book signing

(MILFORD, NH.) There’s nothing more romantic than a first kiss – and four romance authors plan to prove that when they join forces Feb. 13 to read their “first kiss” scenes and talk about writing romance at Toadstool Bookstore in Milford, N.H.

By reading excerpts from their latest novels, the authors will give readers a sample of romantic scenes from four different genres, including historical, contemporary, romantic mystery and techno-romantic thrillers.

Salem resident Denise Robbins, the author of three techno-romantic thrillers, says the event provides a great opportunity to learn about what goes into writing romance novels and to purchase a personal and romantic gift for Valentine’s Day. “Valentine's Day is considered the most romantic day of the year," she said. "What could be more heartfelt than giving a signed copy of a book?”

A software engineering manager, Robbins successfully combines her knowledge of computers and technology with the world of crime and clandestine activities in all her novels. Her last release, Killer Bunny Hill, gave readers a glimpse into the breakthrough science of nanotechnology, while Connect the Dots, her newest novel, delves into the secret world of the CIA. By blending romantic elements into heart-pounding plots, she keeps readers turning the pages.

In fact, Robbins has inadvertently made headlines with her latest techno-thriller. A failed Christmas Day attack on a Detroit-bound Northwest flight led President Obama to proclaim his administration had failed to “connect the dots,” a phrase that has since taken on a life of its own and made the title of her book, Connect the Dots, the topic of the daily news.

The “First Kiss” event and book signing will take place at the Toadstool Bookshop, located at Lorden Plaza in Milford, NH from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Book signing event offers thrills, chills, mystery & suspense

Two local Borders Books are getting into the Halloween spirit a little early when they host book signings by highly acclaimed techno-romantic thriller author Denise Robbins. The Oct 10 signing in Concord and Oct. 24 signing in Nashua will precede a post-Halloween event at Zorvino Vineyards in Sandown, N.H., when Robbins joins other published authors for a murder mystery experience on Friday the 13th of November.

Called a master of the techno-romantic thriller field by Night Owl Romance, Robbins is a software engineering manager who uses her knowledge of computers and technology to create tales of crime, romance, and suspense that pulls readers in and never lets them go.

Coffee Time Romance called Robbins’ latest novel Killer Bunny Hill, a “gripping suspense story,” while CafĂ© of Dreams said in its review, “Ms. Robbins blends together secrets, intrigue, suspense, and romance as easily and wonderfully as a master chef blends the ingredients for a delectable gourmet meal.”

The Midwest Book Review gave her debut novel It Happens in Threes five stars, and says the book is “packed with scorching romance, nail-biting suspense, and nonstop action,” making it a great read for both men and women.

Readers are invited to come out and meet Robbins and authors CJ West and Nora LeDuc on Oct. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Borders in Concord. On Oct. 24, Robbins and LeDuc will team up again from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Borders in Nashua.

Press Release

Although I have been writing. . .at page 85 as of this morning, I also did spend a little time on the publicity thing.

I found this wonderful person named Jessica James and her blog at http://bookexposure.blogspot.com/.

Jessica is an author and a newspaper editor with 18 years experience. She knows how to craft a press release and how to address an email to an editor to get their attention.

I worked with Jessica through email the past three days where she asked me a bunch of questions and in the end, I have a press release that I have already sent out to a local paper and the blurb to attach to submit to a newspaper editor to catch their interest in possibly doing an interview.

Seriously, if any of you are having troubles with getting that press release done, check out her blog and contact her. I highly recommend her!

Nashua Telegraph - Author's Forum

On Friday, I received an email from the Nashua Telegraph and a form to fill out, kind of a paper-based author interview. Very neat!

Anyway, look for my book and me to be featured in the Nashua Telegraph's Author Forum section.

It will also announce the upcoming booksignings.

What to do with my new book cover?

Well, I can tell you what I did last night. I printed out several copies of the cover and took it with me to my salon appointment. Of course all the ladies know my first book is coming out so they were ecstatic.

Such a tremendous feeling to know that something you've worked years on achieving is just around the corner!

Beyond that, I now have to create a "Press Kit". No clue what that is other than one of the things will be a Press Release and somehow my new book cover plays a part in this.

Plus, someone suggested that I get bookmarks made with the book cover art on it and the ISBN and my website listed, not to mention my next novel.

Woohoo! Let's get this show on the road.

If anyone has other marketing suggestions for use of the book cover art please let me know.
