She left the meeting. . . Writing Prompt Tuesday

Now that we made it through Monday, we need a little writing motivation. This being Tuesday, it is time for a writing prompt.

This little line was inspired by me walking down a hallway at work mumbling to myself after leaving a meeting. I am certain that most of you can relate to "those" kind of meetings.

Prompt: She left the meeting. . .

She left the meeting more angry than she had been before walking in. Who the hell did her mother think she was?

Her mother. Now that was a laugh. That woman had never been a mother. Life with Katrina Presley had never been anything but a nightmare.

So, why did she think that trying to talk reason to her would do her any good. No, Katrina (she refused to call her mother) had been practically licking her chops when she found out that Rio was set up in a nice little apartment with a good job with a bright future.

Katrina's final words reverberated in her brain, making it ache.

"You'll see me around, Rio. New Hampshire seems like a nice place to live."

So now what? Was she just supposed to wait for Katrina to set up house in the neighborhood and insinuate herself into her life again? No, she wouldn't allow that. She couldn't let Katrina's poison seep into her life again. And more importantly, she wouldn't let it reach Sadie, Travis and Maddie.

She'd have to leave. Leave it all behind, everything she was now in love with.

Rio squeezed her eyes shut and tried to push the pain out of her heart.

This was why she didn't fall in love. It hurt too damned much.
