Honorable mention by local radio talent

What a way to get a smile on my face!

This afternon while working I received a message from local radio host Heather Bishop-Dumka telling me she gave me some love.

In the article link, Heather is interviewed fo the UUnion Leader's Top 40 under 40. It's a great article about a terrific, lady, mother, radio personality, and humanitarian. Read the article That midday voice on the radio might belong to WZID's Heather Bishop-Dumka

On the left-hand portion of the article you get to learn a few more personal things about Heather AND how she is reading my book, KILLER BUNNY HILL.

Terrific article, Heather!! Thanks much for the mention. I'll have to make sure you get a copy of PHISH NET STALKINGS when I get it in my hands.

Could your neighbor be a romance writer?

This weekend, Sausan Cragin, author of Nuclear Nebraska and member of the New Hampshire Romance Writers had an article she wrote published in the Concord Monitor, a local newspaper. Is your neighbor a romance writer?

The article is entertaining, interesting, and educational. Take a look at the article, read it, share it with your friends. And the next time you are out and about whether at the grocery store, in a bookstore, at Target or Wal-Mart, pick up romance novel, flip to the back and read the bio of the author. Find out if she is from your neighborhood.

Or when you are out to eat, glance around. Do you see a woman sitting there with a notebook and pen writing away, laughing at nothing, or maybe she has a tiny little computer sitting in front of her, her fingers flying over the keys, making faces at the screen while she types?

She could be a romance writer. Or the romance writer could be sitting there with a companion and instead of listening to the person sitting across from her, she is tuned in to a conversation between two strangers and taking mental notes for her own novel. Be careful what you say in a low whisper. :-)

Next time you are out, pick up a romance, take it home and have a good read. It's the best therapy for a little mental break and a lot of relaxation. Happy reading!

Article idea. . .looking for input

Sitting in my home office with my two cats next to my laptop on Saturday morning before the sun rises, the aroma of my homemade soup wafting up from the crockpot in the kitchen, I am thinking it has been a while since I wrote an article.

Not that I don't have enough on my plate right now, but I feel the urge to craft something that will help other writers. Yes, the topics of my articles are always in the writing realm.

My problem this morning is a topic for an article. Maybe it's the lack of food, or that it is still dark outside, or maybe my brain has gone to complete mush after fighting computer/network issues for three days, but not a single idea has popped into my head.

I would be very grateful if others would leave a comment as to what they would like to see. What have you not read that you REALLY want/need to see?

Let me know and I will see what I can craft.

How do Computers and Romance Relate?

Romantic Techno-Thriller

So, you're wondering what that is. Good. It is a mix of technology and romance.

What do computers have to do with romance?

Besides online dating? Could be everything!

Thanks to a push from author Jessica James http://bookexposure.blogspot.com/ who suggested I write an article that discusses technology and some terrific article ideas from my publisher's loop http://www.lldreamspell.com, I wrote an article this weekend that revolves around how I combine computer technology with romantic fiction. This is my brand! Only took me a year to realize what that meant, but now I get it. Woot!

You see, all my novels are a mix of some kind of technology, romance, and suspense. I'm going to coin my brand as "romantic techno-thriller." To read the first article around this subject, please click this link to see the published article on http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Your-Antagonist-Can-Antagonize-Your-Protagonist&id=2363497

Let me know what you think!

Laurens Library

I think it was a couple of weeks ago that I told you all about my grandmother going to her library to get a copy of my book but it had been checked out.

This morning, while I'm sitting at home sick, I rummaged through a week's worth of mail and found a card from my grandmother. She sent me a card congratulating me on my book and included a small article from her local newspaper that listed my book and that fact that I am Maxine's (grandma's name) grand daughter.

I noticed that the library has a website so I went out there to check it out and sure enough they listed the same information. So cool!

Check it out: http://www.laurenspubliclibrary.com/laurens_public_librarywhats%20new.htm

Website Updates

Here's the thing about a website. . .you have to keep updating it.

Over the weekend, I added two articles that people had requested. One on passive voice - my favorite and the other on description. Check out the Resources link on my website. I have another article ready once I put in the edits so maybe next week there will be an article on Hooks.

Jeannie updated the contact form on my site so you have to check that out too.

On the books page, I added part of Christy's review of IT HAPPENS IN THREES and a link to the full review on her site.

How does everyone else keep up with their website and still write?

Writer's Block and Article

Well, I'm at that inevitable point in my current WIP where I'm so close to finishing that I cannot seem to write. Don't ya just hate that?!

Anyway, I'm looking for some ideas on the next article to write in the hopes that if I write an article maybe I will be able to clear my writer's block.

I will take any suggestions, so send them over.

Holiday Writing

How much did you actually write this past week between shopping and family time?

Me? I managed to squeeze in a one lousy chapter...not that the chapter was lousy. :-) As a matter of fact, my father, who is my first round editor, didn't even make any changes to the chapter so it couldn't have been terrible. (Right, Dad??)

I also managed to write a brief article on hooks; what they are and how to write one.

So I did get some writing done but if I'm going to meet my first New Year's resolution of completing my current WIP by February then I better get a move on.

Next article idea?

I need a break from my current WIP and want to write an article.

Does anyone have any suggestions on articles related to writing? Anything you're frustrated with and need help on?
