What is toe headed?

First, is it toe-headed or tow-headed?

Second, what does it mean?

This morning I was listening to an audiobook and that word was mentioned. I came home and looked it up, or I should say I attempted to look it up and could not find the definition.

So, what is it? Why use it? And am I the only person who has no clue as to the definition?

I'm going to take a stab at it and say it's tow-headed and it means blond.

Now I have go and look it up. I'll let you know if I'm wrong. :)

From the Merriam-Webster website:
a head of hair resembling tow especially in being flaxen or tousled ; also : a person having such a head of hair

Flaxen is straw colored, so I guess I was right. Thank goodness. :) Didn't know about the tousled part, though.

Thank you very much. I have no sense when it comes to internet searches.

tow-headed is having very pale, almost white, blonde hair. It is usually used to describe a child; i.e. 'he was a real tow-head'

Ah! So that's what I was when I was very young.
