Mirror Writing prompt for Friday

Mirror Writing Prompt for Friday is not a Snow White reference.

Today's writing prompt has to do with driving. In her rearview mirror. . .

Have fun with this one and try to make it suspenseful!

I'm running a little behind on stuff this week thanks to getting my first techno article out there and then I received the edits for KILLER BUNNY HILL. I will be sharing my Tuesday writing response later today so look for that.

Don't forget, Sunday the interview with Carmen Shirkey, author of The List will be posted so stop by before or after your BBQ and leave a comment.

In the rearview mirror she saw the car. She’d been driving on a fairly straight stretch and maybe a half-mile behind her was another car. It looked black.

Maybe it was just her imagination. After all, how could she know for sure since the car was so far behind her? But she pushed her foot down a bit harder on the gas pedal until her speed increased by five miles per hour. It didn’t compete with the rate her heart raced, though. To tame her runaway pulse she drew in a long breath through her nose and released it through her mouth, once, then again. It only served to slow it down a fraction.

A mile further up, the road curved and went back into the cover of trees. She lost sight of the vehicle behind her, but she didn’t let up on the gas. She knew that she had to find some place to hide out, any place that she could stop, catch her breath and try to figure things out. Molly wouldn’t remain quiet for much longer, so as much for the baby’s sake as her own, she needed a break.

Glancing in the rearview mirror again, the black car seemed to have disappeared, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t still there. An unseen stalker chilled her more than one she could actually keep track of. She needed a plan, couldn’t just keep driving around aimlessly until something came to her.
